So my cousin from the Czech republic is asking my mom to buy refills for a Diaper genie that she bought online

she can't find refills that ship to the CR so she is asking my mom to buy 20 refill packs and ship them over (mom doesn't want to do this as she thinks she is a spoiled brat and it is hella expensive to do this)

so any ideas websites that might be useful?

thanks all!

My sister-in-law is a vegetarian so I've decided to throw together a fruit salad for her to increase the range of offerings in the house while they're visiting. I'm using fruit on hand: pineapple, cuties, apples, pears and walnuts. I'd like a suggestion for a glaze, possibly one that's honey based.

Also, any idea on how much lemon juice I need to add to keep the apples from turning brown? Will it work to preserve pears also?

TIA

I have always been curious about the 'beach spray' type hair products for creating scrunchy wavyish hair, does anyone have experience with it? I usually use Iso Bouncy Creme for scrunching after I wash and I just let my hair dry (except the bangs, I blow dry and put some wax in the ends to seperate them). I wonder if the beachy stuff would work better, sometimes I worry that my hair looks too straight/flat. Here is a few pictures under the cut, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance! <3

I have a nasty little break out on the back of my head, just above the nape of my neck. Its a little cluster of very painfull bumps that I think are pimples but I can't see.I'm hoping its just from stress because I've been using the same shampoo for years.

If it is acne, how can I treat it. If it all?
If its not, what could it be and if I have my mom or someone look at it for me what would they be looking for?

Thanks so much!

my hair sucks!!!

i have no idea what to do with my hair but it's seriously boring and i just need some input as in suggestions, pictures, ANYTHING really!

here's some 411:

-i wanna keep my hair semi-long
-i don't mind hairstyles that take a while to upkeep because i'm already used to spending 18 hours straight ironing and blowdrying haha.
-i would like to keep the same hair color

so basically, give me some ideas on what would be a cute haircut on me.

here's a pic of me by the way (haha) )

This may be a stupidity central to myself, but while I was lighting a Yankee Candle candle (the small one in the glass jar) I accidentally burned the edge of my new gel nail on my thumb. I filed the burned part off, but have I damaged the nail job more than that?

I'm looking for a foundation that is waterproof and no spf.  The reason I want a foundation without sunscreen is because it reflects lights, making my skin look ghostly in flash photos & I hate that.  I also need something with very good coverage.  My skin is kind of blotchy and I have big pores.

Also, I was wondering if any of you have tried skin id..

Thanks in advance :D

Quick hit question:

Kat Von D Palettes. They are so tempting and beautiful in the Sephora store. Reviews? Rants? Raves? Also, recommendations for a palette for blue eyes? I know she has brown eyes and a lot of her palettes seem to be more oriented toward that, but I worry that something like Metal Orchestra would really wash my light/bright blue eyes out.

Quick hit review:

Sephora Lush Flush Lip and Cheek Stain. It's good stuff. Nice and buildable, one coat is polished and subtle, three is a dramatic rich berry. For my skintone, it's perfect (for reference, I'm light/golden olive and my favorite lip color is Clinique Black Honey). The only thing is it dries out your lips a bit, but a good balm/gloss over it takes care of that.

Alright, my wonderful denizens of beauty- I have another problem.

For Christmas a not-very-close friend got me a little thing of Burt's Bees stuff. One of the items is this. I tried it tonight and it left a thick film on my face. I'm already breaking out a little because it's that time of month, I figured I didn't need anything else clogging my pores. So I washed the film off with my Philosophy Purity face wash. So my question to you all is two fold.

One- why is this stuff leaving a film on my face? It's a thick film too. Feels pretty gross. What the heck is in it that's doing that? And why? Why did they think this was a good idea?

Two- am I overreacting by washing my face again afterwards? Is it actually just hurting it more? Should I keep using the stuff the way I am now, or the way they tell you to? Or should I just re-gift it to someone else? lol.

Thank you for all your wonderful advice, and a happy whatever-you-celebrate to everyone!

I think that the medication that I'm on caused me to gain weight in the hip area. So now my hips are a lot wider than what they were before and my stomach is flat. I'm at a lost. I just came back from shopping and the stuff that usual works, looked horrible on me. I tried reading stuff online but I'm still not too sure about it. I was always a pear shape, but in two months the weight gain has been so drastic. It's like the rest of my body is the same size besides my hips. My butt isn't any larger; just for some reason it's like my bones stretched out wider (maybe it's the last bit of puberty? I'm only 20 and I know that the body keeps changing). Any styling tips for extreme pear shapes? I have a large bust too and most of the tips that I read online were for flat chested pears.

I've perused the tags looking for help but I haven't really found much to answer my questions :(

MY DILEMMA: My skin's been getting weird on me. I've always had breakouts here and there but lately it's been going nuts, to the point where I think I might have mild acne. Cystic breakouts and whiteheads and clogged pores and other disasters have been erupting all over, mostly along my jaw.

I heard good things about Neutrogena's grapefruit wash, so I tried that, and honestly it did work wonders ... for the first three or four days. Then it started drying out my t-zone like NOBODY's business. When I tried a temporary solution of moisturizing the area after I scrubbed my face, I started breaking out in that area again, even while still using the scrub.

Could the moisturizer be the problem? I stopped using it after that, and I did use it on my whole face, daily (when I remembered) for a while, but my issues started after I forgot to use it for about a month, lol.

I've stopped using both, and now it's just back to crappy blah breakouts. I've always been a skincare spaz ... I don't really know what to use or when to use it or what really works, so I'm back in the dark after that disaster I guess. My skin goes from kind of dry to really oily (and vice versa) pretty fast, so I'm not even sure how to address THAT. It even affects my hair, I think, because by the end of the day my bangs and the hair around my face gets mega greasy.

I'M A HOT MESS!! Could anyone recommend anything? Or even just say "holy crap my skin's just like that!"

Thanks ladies (and gents?)!

My mom awhile ago bought me royal purple boot leg jeans, yet I haven't worn them because I don't know HOW to wear them. It's a funny royal purple too not what you think it would be. I LOVE purple and ecstatic that she got me these but i am having trouble fitting these in my style. I'm usually just a blue jean, plain long sleeved, sweeter, funky shirt kind girl and I really don't know how to pair it with anything to make it look not dorky D=.

That's the color purple a bright royal purple.

Ideas?

so tomorrow is christmas eve and i am trying to figure out my outfit. my family and i go to a family friends house with all of our friends and then attend midnight mass.

i was thinking wearing a red button down shirt (completely plain). black skirt. and flats.
the problem is my black skirt is a little shorter than i hoped. its about mid thigh. do you guys think that is too short to wear to church. should i wear black pantyhose underneath or nude colored? im completely stuck and will have no option to go out and buy anything.
the alternatives to wearing the black skirt would be black hardtail pants or black skinny jeans. the problem with pants is i would be wearing such a covered up shirt that i would feel VERY conservative and plain wearing pants with that top!

thanks for the help :)

I'm bringing my very first important dish to Christmas, and now of course I'm freaking out that I'm going to ruin it. Mashed potatoes. Oh, mashed potatoes, how you've brought drama to my family before. (An aunt normally makes them--not all that well, by the way--but didn't say so in advance one year. Someone else prepared them and there were *two bowls of mashed potatoes*. The horror of it! Aforementioned aunt had a total melt down, and ever since mashed potatoes have been a sensitive topic. Ha! Oh, family.)

Anyway, 10 lbs of potatoes aside, how can I keep the big glass bowl that they will reside in warm? A quick reheat in the microwave is doable, but they'll be prepared in the afternoon and eaten in the evening, so I'd like to keep them warm versus refrigerating them and then having to bring them all the way back to hot from cold. Could I make them and transfer them into my crock pot and keep it on the warm setting? If I'm doing that I could just transport/serve them in the removable inner which would work well too.

Also, I was just going to go with some milk, butter, and salt added. When I make them for myself I just add milk, but this is going on suggestions to make them tastier. Any tried and true potato to milk to butter ratios?

ETA: How long does sour cream last once opened? I've got a tub with a sell-by date of 12/14, and it's likely been open since then.

I just got this Covergirl quad yesterday and I've worn it once but I'm looking to see how other people use it. Soo if you have suggestions of ways to combine the colors or how to wear it let me know! Also I'd love to see pictures of people wearing this if you have any :]

Hello Hipsters!

I'm a newly minted single guy and I just bought some new, fairly good (for me anyway) non-stick pots and pans.

I know the non-stick surfaces can be a little more fragile than cast iron *grins*. I'm wondering how do y'all store 'em? As I live in an apartment I don't really think hanging a rack is optimal. Cabinet space is minimal too.

The pots with lids I can deal with: Reverse the lids on the largest pot and stack the next one on top of it. Repeat as needed.

But what about grill and fry pans and such?

Thanks a bunch!

I have until Monday night to figure out how to get my boyfriend's lunch box un-smellified. It's one of the large Thermos ones, with the lower rectangular compartment and the upper rounded compartment (meant to hold a Thermos with liquid inside).

When I pack his lunch in the morning, I put leftovers in Gladware containers and at least two (sometimes as many as four) sandwiches in the bottom compartment, and I use the upper compartment for fruit, granola bars, baking, and plastic cutlery. Yes he eats that much and he's in a desk job; I worry about what would happen if he were in a physically demanding job again.

Sometimes he doesn't eat everything, which is fine by me, except for when he leaves an orange in the upper compartment for days on end. The box goes into the fridge every night, but I guess it doesn't get refrigerated at work, and the last orange I sent didn't get eaten for over a week - I actually finally just tossed it because it was inedible (not rotten, just gross).

So now his lunch box smells like old, gross orange, and airing it out overnight hasn't helped at all. I've actually been emptying the thing into the fridge every night and leaving it out, wide open, on top of the cupboards. No luck.

So... what's my best bet here? The Thermos web site says to wipe it down with mild soap, but that seriously is NOT going to get rid of this smell.

So I have 4 blocks of cream cheese due to expire a few days after Christmas. Any ideas on what to make with them? I have the usual baking essentials but would prefer nothing too complicated (like a pumpkin roll) as I have a toddler and newborn to take care of. Side dishes would be great too. Thanks!

I had a look through the memories and tags, and that has helped me narrow my field down by a tiny bit (but not by much!), so i need your help!

Im in need of a self tanner(s) for my body as it's summer here in Australia and im white as a ghost. I've read good things about the bare escentuals(?) faux tan, and anything by Clarins, but we don't sell bare escentuals(?) here and Clarins will cost an arm and a freaking leg to buy! So im looking for pretty much anything else. In Australia people rave about the St Tropez and Model Co ranges, but they're about $40-$60 for their products so im a bit skeptical of paying so much when im a first time user of self tan and im white as. I have also heard good reviews of the L'oreal Sublime Bronze but i have no idea which one people are referring too.
these are the two that my work sells )
I've tried the Nivea Summer Beauty gradual tanner in medium-dark and while it's okay, here are a list of cons:
*It's really runny to apply and takes forever to absorb
*It takes about a week of application to see any result
*It goes orange very quickly, so if you go overboard or keep applying for about 2 weeks straight, you'll be an orange mess
*It pretty much washes off in the shower.

I've also tried the Dove and Johnson gradual tanners with about similar luck. So im not really looking to try another gradual tanner as i want more lasting power and more brown than orange!

1) For my legs/arms im wanting a nice self tanner that's more on the bronze side with as little orange-ness as possible. Any brand or price, really... And in your experience, is it easier to apply a cream/mousse or a spray?

2) A decent self tanner for the face/WONT CAUSE BREAKOUTS! I've been specifically looking at the tanner for the face by St Tropez, or a L'oreal face tanner. I don't mind if these are gradual or even orange-y, they just cannot clog my skin like a mofo! Lately i've been getting some pimples on my neck and chest, so i want a facial tanner to use on that area in the hopes of not creating any more pimples. Ack!

Thanks in advance!

BEWARE: This is a full blown review on this product (that I feel so passionate about!) so it's quite lengthy.

So I was absent-mindedly perusing the cosmetics aisles at Wal-Mart looking for something new that would possibly catch my attention that I could try. I'm not too big on drugstore brands because IMO 99.9% of all the drugstore stuff sucks. But maybe it's just my luck???
